Learn how Hunter Isaacson generated over 150M downloads in the App Store
Hello Innovators and Future Game-Changers,
In our latest podcast, "Learn how Hunter Isaacson generated over 150M downloads in the App Store," we uncover the extraordinary story of a digital maven who mastered the art of app development and marketing. Join us as we delve into Hunter's journey, filled with insights and strategies that redefined app success.
Early Beginnings and Digital Dreams
Hunter's story started with applications with his first idea being a social media app called Leadr. The goal behind Leadr was to incentivize users to attend events and meet at popular areas to gain points and status. His fascination with app development had only just started and we will talk through his journey of being involved in multiple viral apps throughout the last few years, leading him down an unconventional path of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Facing and Embracing Challenges
Hunter's early career was marked by challenges typical for many aspiring entrepreneurs, such as being declined by YC for his first startup which is a challenge many entrepreneurs and builders can relate to. He did not let that derail his goal to follow his passions into the world of applications and take his piece of the massive pie we call the Apple App Store. His persistence and ability to adapt played a pivotal role in his later successes.
The Idea That Changed Everything
The turning point for Hunter was being recruited to join 9Count a consumer social holding company founded by Alex Hofmann. At 9Count he was able to join a highly talented team and begin putting Apps out at scale. During his time there he was part of creating 10 apps with 5 of those being shipped and the most viral ones being “Make New Friends” and “Summer” which totaled over 30 Million downloads.
The App That Changed Everything
After his time at 9Count, he took everything he learned and set out to launch another App with a few friends not knowing they were about to strike gold! He launched the App called “NGL” which was an anonymous question App built for Instagram stories. The goal was to be the AskFM for the younger generations leveraging Instagram’s massive audience to scale the application. The growth started slow but the team was not discouraged by this and continued to have faith in the app. It slowly started to go viral in random countries around the world before it exploded into one of the most viral apps in all of the App Store with now over 100 Million downloads worldwide and millions in revenue generated!
Mastering the App Store
Hunter shared valuable insights on how to succeed in the competitive world of app development. His strategies around how to best position your app are particularly noteworthy with the number 1 takeaway being that the application must be aimed towards users sharing with their friends who would then share with their friends creating organic virality. This is easier said than done but if anyone is reading this and looking to launch their own application make sure that strategy is at the core of what you are building unless you plan on raising millions to promote and market your application.
Looking Ahead: Hunter's Vision for the Future
As our conversation with Hunter concluded, it was evident that his journey is a beacon for aspiring app developers and entrepreneurs. His future plans for his next app BagsApp which play into his passion for Crypto and his outlook on the evolving digital landscape.
